Heavy Snowfall Blocks Key Roads in Several Afghan Provinces

The Taliban’s Public Works Department has announced that recent heavy snowfall has caused the closure of several important transportation routes in multiple provinces across the country.

According to a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, January 26, the Kandahar–Uruzgan highway, the roads in the Jaghatu and Nawa districts of Ghazni province, as well as certain routes in Ghor province, are currently closed.

The statement noted that the closures have made travel difficult for residents of these areas and raised concerns regarding access to services and the transportation of goods.

The Taliban’s Public Works Department added that with the improvement of weather conditions, contracted companies will begin snow clearance operations on these roads to restore transportation.
