Woman Killed in Minneapolis by U.S. Immigration Officer Shooting

According to reports, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed a 37-year-old woman inside her vehicle in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This incident occurred amid increased immigration enforcement operations across the country.

Reuters, citing local and federal officials, reported that the shooting took place on Wednesday, with the woman’s vehicle’s front right window showing multiple bullet holes. However, authorities have not yet released further details regarding the woman’s identity.

Simultaneously, the BBC reported that the shooting has sparked strong reactions from Minnesota local officials and protests by several Minneapolis residents. Protesters have expressed concern about the presence and actions of federal immigration officers in the city.

In response to the incident, President Donald Trump stated that the ICE officer fired in self-defense. According to him, the woman attempted to violently run over an officer with her vehicle.

In contrast, Jacob Frey, the mayor of Minneapolis, described the federal government’s stance as “meaningless” and called for the removal of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from the city. He emphasized that intensified immigration operations could lead to increased distrust and violence in urban communities.
