Saudi Arabia and Sudan Hold Talks on Peace and Security

Waleed Al-Khereiji, Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, met with Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, to discuss the latest developments in Sudan and the available options for establishing sustainable peace and security. The meeting took place on Wednesday in the port city of Port Sudan.
According to a report by Sudan’s official news agency (SUNA), Al-Khereiji conveyed a message from the King and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia to Al-Burhan, emphasizing Riyadh’s desire for the establishment of lasting peace and stability in Sudan. He also reiterated the Saudi leadership’s support for political efforts to end the crisis in Sudan.
Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, expressing gratitude for the attention of the Saudi King and Crown Prince, referred to the historical ties and close relations between the peoples of Sudan and Saudi Arabia. He also thanked Donald Trump, President of the United States, for what he described as his attention to the Sudan issue and efforts to stop the war and establish peace.
SUNA reported that the talks included reviewing a peace plan supported by the Saudi Crown Prince and the US President aimed at addressing Sudan’s crisis. Additionally, the parties discussed ongoing arrangements for holding the Strategic Coordination Council between the two countries.
Saudi Arabia’s official news agency, SPA, also reported that the discussions focused on ways to achieve peace that preserves Sudan’s security, stability, unity, and legal institutions.
