Kabul Finalizes Design for Menar-e-Nijat Overpass to Alleviate Traffic

The Kabul Municipality has announced that the design and plan for constructing a motor vehicle overpass with an interchange system at the Menar-e-Nijat intersection have been finalized. This project is part of infrastructural efforts aimed at reducing traffic congestion.

According to the provided information, the overpass is designed with three lanes in each direction—three lanes for incoming traffic and three lanes for outgoing traffic. The total length of the bridge is planned to be 450 meters, with a width of 28 meters. The municipality states that this will significantly increase the capacity for vehicle movement.

The Menar-e-Nijat intersection is considered one of the busiest points in Kabul city, attracting a high volume of daily traffic. This intersection is the junction point of two important transport corridors, Kabul–Logar and Kabul–Jalalabad.

Residents of the areas surrounding this intersection have consistently complained about severe traffic congestion. They view infrastructure projects such as overpasses as solutions to improve transportation conditions in this part of the city.
