Kahshan Diversion Dam and Canal Inaugurated in Logar Province

The Kahshan diversion dam and canal in Charkh district of Logar province have been officially inaugurated. According to the Ministry of Energy and Water under Taliban administration, the project facilitates the irrigation of approximately 600 hectares of agricultural land and is expected to benefit nearly 2,000 families.

The ministry’s press office announced that the implementation cost of this project was nearly $143,000. The initiative aims to improve water resource management and strengthen local agriculture.

According to the provided information, the project was financially supported by the FEO institute and its implementation was overseen by the Department of Water and Energy of Logar province.

Local residents have long complained about water shortages for farming. The operation of this canal is anticipated to alleviate some of these water needs, although the sustainability and transparent management of such projects remain significant challenges in various regions of the country.
