Clash over Gold Mine in Takhar Leaves Three Dead and Five Injured

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has announced that a clash between local residents and officials of a gold extraction company in Chah Ab district of Takhar province resulted in three deaths and five injuries.

Abdul Matin Qanae, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, stated that individuals involved in the incident—including a security employee of the mentioned company and a local resident—have been detained by the police, and investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the deputy governor of Takhar has traveled to Chah Ab district to closely examine the situation and oversee the follow-up process on this incident.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the operations of the gold extraction company at the center of the dispute have been temporarily suspended, and police investigations continue to clarify all aspects of the clash. This event once again highlights concerns over natural resource management, transparency in company activities, and the security of local residents in the country’s mining areas—issues for which critics are calling on the Taliban administration to be more accountable.
