Heavy Clashes Erupt Between Jolani-affiliated Forces and SDF in Aleppo Suburbs

Intense clashes have broken out between forces affiliated with Abu Mohammad al-Julani and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the outskirts of Deir Hafer, located east of Aleppo, resulting in casualties.

The Al-Ikhbariya news agency, quoting its correspondent, reported that during SDF attacks on the outskirts of the Castillo area in Aleppo, one Jolani-affiliated fighter was killed and three others were wounded. Simultaneously, a military source told Al Jazeera that in an SDF drone attack in Aleppo, one soldier was killed and four others were injured.

In contrast, the SDF claimed that Damascus-affiliated groups targeted Deir Hafer areas, which they said were densely populated with civilians. The SDF issued a statement holding Damascus-affiliated groups responsible for the repercussions of the tensions, emphasizing that its forces reserve the right to respond within the framework of defending the people and ensuring security and stability in the region.

An Al Jazeera correspondent also reported hearing gunfire and ongoing heavy clashes near the Sheikhun roundabout in Aleppo city. Earlier, Al-Ikhbariya Syria, citing a military source, reported that after identifying drone launch sites, the Syrian army targeted SDF drone launch positions around Deir Hafer.

According to this source, the SDF’s drone attacks caused injuries to more than six civilians and military police members, while the Syrian army stated its response would be limited. These clashes intensified following an inconclusive meeting between Mazloum Abdi, the SDF commander, and government officials in Damascus.
