China Condemns US Actions Against Venezuela as Threat to Peace
China’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations described the United States’ actions against Venezuela as a serious threat to peace and security in Latin America and internationally during Monday’s UN Security Council meeting on Venezuela’s situation.
The Chinese official strongly condemned Washington’s unilateral and illegal measures, stating that they contravene the principles of international law and the UN Charter. According to him, such an approach not only fails to help resolve crises but also exacerbates tensions.
The Chinese representative further said that instead of promoting multilateralism and pursuing diplomatic channels, the United States prioritizes political influence and even military options—a policy that, Beijing believes, endangers collective security among nations.
He also added that China is deeply shocked by what it termed “America’s aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of the country’s lawful and elected president,” describing Washington’s actions as bullying, illegal, and violating Venezuela’s national sovereignty.
