Afghan Resistance Front Accuses Taliban of Exhuming and Desecrating Local Commander’s Body

The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan announced on Monday, January 4, that Taliban forces had exhumed the body of Zafar, one of the Front’s local commanders, after burial and desecrated it. The resistance front condemned this act as a clear violation of human principles and an example of the Taliban’s violent behavior.

In a statement released by the National Resistance Front, the Taliban’s action was described as a “cowardly and inhumane crime” and was strongly condemned. The statement added that such behavior indicates that the Taliban do not adhere to the ethics of war, religious standards, or the cultural values of Afghan society.

The National Resistance Front emphasized that violating the remains of the deceased is not only against customs and humanity, but also reflects the Taliban’s fear of their armed opponents, even after their death. The Front further stated that such actions highlight the need for accountability and responsibility from the Taliban administration toward the people of Afghanistan and international institutions.

The statement also called on the international community to explicitly condemn this incident as a “war crime” and to express solidarity with the victims’ families. The National Resistance Front criticized silence and indifference as factors that perpetuate human rights violations in the country.

The Front did not provide details about the circumstances of Zafar’s death or the exact timing of the exhumation. However, several Afghan media outlets have reported that this local commander died about two weeks ago after falling from a mountain in Baghlan province.

As of the publication of this report, the Taliban administration has not issued an official response to these allegations.
