Iran’s Consul General in Balkh Signals Readiness to Collaborate with Afghan Traders in Oil Refining

The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Balkh has announced that Tehran is prepared to cooperate with Afghan traders in the oil refining sector. These remarks were made during his visit to the inspection and control unit of Hairatan port.
According to him, expanding economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, can facilitate trade activities and increase exchanges between the two parties. Without providing further details, he emphasized the role of the private sector in expanding these collaborations.
Hairatan port, as one of the most important transit routes in northern Afghanistan, plays a key role in importing petroleum products and other commercial goods. However, Afghan traders have consistently called for greater transparency, the reduction of administrative barriers, and the creation of practical facilities in such collaborations.
In a context where the Taliban administration controls the management of ports and customs, economic experts stress that any regional cooperation will only be effective if it is accompanied by guarantees of stability, transparency, and genuine support for the private sector.
