Floods in Farah and Herat Cause Extensive Damage to Homes and Farmland

Recent floods in several districts of Farah and Herat provinces have caused widespread damage to residential homes, agricultural lands, and public infrastructure, resulting in casualties in some areas.
The World Food Programme (WFP) stated that its teams, along with partner organizations, were immediately dispatched to assess needs and deliver aid to the affected areas following the floods. According to these assessments, 140 families have so far received assistance.
Residents of the affected areas say the severity of the floods has disrupted their daily lives and caused many families to lose their primary sources of livelihood. They have called for the continuation and expansion of urgent humanitarian aid.
These events once again highlight Afghanistan’s vulnerability to natural disasters—a matter that, according to observers, requires effective planning, preventive preparedness, and serious attention from the Taliban administration to crisis management and support for people in emergency situations.
