Pope Leo XIV Expresses Concern Over Developments in Venezuela

Pope Leo XIV stated that he is following the ongoing developments in Venezuela with a ‘concerned heart’ and emphasized that the country must remain independent.
According to Al Jazeera, the Catholic leader reacted to recent events without criticizing or condemning the US military action against Venezuela, stressing the priority of the interests of the Venezuelan people.
At the same time, he made no critical reference to the forced transfer of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife to New York and adopted a cautious stance regarding these developments.
