New York Mayor Zehran Mamdani Responds to Arrest of Venezuelan President Maduro

Zehran Mamdani, the Mayor of New York City, announced that he was informed this morning about the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the President of Venezuela, and his wife by the United States military and their transfer to federal custody in New York.
In a message on the social media platform X, the New York Mayor emphasized that unilateral action against an independent country, from his perspective, constitutes an act of war and contradicts federal laws and international principles.
According to Mamdani, the consequences of this event are not limited to foreign relations but directly affect New York City, which is home to tens of thousands of Venezuelan residents. He added that his primary priority is ensuring the security of these citizens and the public safety of all New Yorkers.
The New York Mayor also stated that his administration is continuously monitoring the ongoing developments and will issue necessary guidelines and actions to manage the situation if needed.
