Over 22,000 Tons of Fresh Fruit Exported from Herat in Nine Months

The Press Office of the Herat Governor’s Office has announced that over the past nine months of the current year, more than 22,000 tons of fresh fruit have been exported from this province to countries outside Afghanistan, with a total value exceeding 16 million US dollars. Although the specific destination countries for these exports were not disclosed, it was stated that Herat’s horticultural products have been sent to several different countries. Herat, as one of the key agricultural provinces in western Afghanistan, has consistently played a significant role in the production and supply of fresh fruit. Local residents say that continued exports could help improve farmers’ incomes but emphasize the need for stable market access and transit facilities. These figures are published as the Taliban administration seeks to present increased exports as a sign of improving economic activity. However, a lack of transparency regarding market details and structural challenges in the agricultural sector remain major concerns for stakeholders.
