Taliban Checkpoint in Kunduz Attacked, Several Casualties Reported

According to local sources, on the evening of Friday, December 29, 2025, around 7:00 PM, a checkpoint affiliated with the Taliban administration near Mufti Seraj Mosque on Bandar Imam Sahib Road in the city of Kunduz was targeted in an attack.
As a result of the incident, at least two Taliban members were killed and two others were injured. Sources say the wounded have been transferred to medical centers, but no further details about their condition are available.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that it was carried out as part of a guerrilla operation. According to released information, a military vehicle carrying Taliban forces caught fire and was destroyed during the attack.
The continuation of such insecurity in Kunduz has raised concerns about the Taliban administration’s inability to provide stable security in urban areas; an issue that residents have repeatedly criticized without receiving clear responses from Taliban officials.
