Returnees in Maidan Wardak Complain of Lack of Basic Services

Several Afghan migrants who have settled in Maidan Wardak province after returning from Pakistan say that, despite several months passing, they still lack access to basic services and face severe shortages of electricity, drinking water, and shelter.

According to these residents, the absence of these essential facilities has made daily family life extremely difficult, forcing many to live in temporary and unsafe conditions. They add that the lack of electricity and water even makes basic needs such as heating water impossible.

These complaints come as the process of migrant returns from Iran and Pakistan continues, with thousands entering the country daily. The returnees emphasize that without urgent action, clear planning, and accountability from the Taliban administration to meet basic needs, their livelihood crisis will deepen further.

Some of these families have called for serious attention from responsible institutions and aid organizations, warning that abandoning returnees without basic infrastructure increases social and humanitarian pressures in host areas.
