Six Months After Kunar Earthquake, Thousands of Children Still Study in Tents

The organization Save the Children has reported that more than six months after the earthquake in Kunar province, damaged homes and schools have yet to be rebuilt, and approximately 25,000 children continue to live and receive education in tents.

According to the organization, in some areas, educational tents have collapsed due to snowfall, and in other regions, using wood to heat the tents has increased the risk of fire. This situation has heightened concerns regarding the safety and health of the children.

Data shows that the earthquake destroyed or seriously damaged over 600 classrooms. As a result, around 17,000 students have been forced to attend classes in temporary shelters.

This ongoing situation exists while residents of the affected areas have urged the Taliban administration to expedite the reconstruction of schools and homes. Aid organizations warn that delays in addressing the issue not only deprive children of education but also expose them to serious life-threatening risks.
