PTI Spokesperson Says Pakistan’s Talks with Taliban Administration Have Been Fruitless

The spokesperson of Pakistan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has stated that the country’s government has engaged representatives in talks with Afghanistan’s Taliban administration who lack a clear understanding of the mindset and realities of Afghan society, leading to fruitless negotiations.
Ehsanullah Khan, in his latest media interview, said that instead of employing individuals familiar with Afghanistan’s social and political fabric, the Pakistani government has relied heavily on Punjabi representatives for negotiations—an approach he believes has hindered progress.
He also highlighted the economic conditions of the Pashtuns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, noting that in the past, under the guise of combating terrorism, the Pakistani government damaged the trade and businesses of the Pashtun residents.
According to the PTI spokesperson, the recent closure of border crossings with Afghanistan has once again disrupted the commercial activities of this community and increased economic pressures.
Ehsanullah Khan emphasized that issues with Afghans should be resolved through dialogue, as he believes that the use of force and pressure against them has brought no positive or lasting results.
