Daily Coal Extraction in Baghlan Mines Reaches 200 Tons

Officials from the State North Coal Company have announced that currently, an average of 200 tons of coal are extracted daily from the Karkar mine in Pul-e Khumri, the capital of Baghlan province, and brought to the market.

According to these officials, coal extraction is ongoing in four major mines operated by the company, employing nearly 400 workers directly at these sites. They emphasized that efforts to increase coal production levels continue.

The company’s officials added that coal mines in the districts of Pul-e Khumri, Tala wa Barfak, and Nahrin are among Baghlan’s important natural resources and can play a significant role in strengthening the country’s economy.

However, economic experts consistently stress that sustainable exploitation of natural resources requires transparent management, standard investment, and attention to workers’ rights—issues that are reportedly facing serious challenges under the current Taliban administration.
