143 Deaths in 255 Traffic Accidents Reported in Parwan, Panjshir, and Kapisa Provinces

According to local officials in the provinces of Parwan, Panjshir, and Kapisa, 255 traffic accidents have occurred in these three provinces since the beginning of this year, resulting in 143 deaths and 112 injuries.

Parwan province recorded the highest number of incidents, with 127 traffic accidents causing the deaths of 107 people and injuring 19 others. In Kapisa, 91 traffic events were reported, leading to 25 deaths and 66 injuries. Meanwhile, in Panjshir, 37 accidents resulted in 10 fatalities and 27 injuries.

Haqmal Saad, spokesperson for the Panjshir police command, confirmed these statistics, citing narrow roads, vehicle congestion, and driver negligence as the main causes of these accidents. He added that over the past nine months, these issues have threatened the lives and safety of dozens of Panjshir residents.

Fazl-ur-Rahim Maskinyar, spokesperson for the Parwan police command, also stated that in the first nine months of the current year, 127 traffic accidents were recorded in Parwan province, resulting in 107 deaths. He emphasized that these numbers reflect a worrying situation regarding road safety in Parwan.

Local officials attribute the primary causes of these incidents to driver negligence, lack of technical training, underage driving, and failure to follow traffic laws. Experts believe these problems stem from weak supervision and limited attention by the Taliban administration toward effective traffic management on highways and provincial roads.

Meanwhile, local authorities in Parwan, Kapisa, and Panjshir say they are focusing seriously on installing traffic signs and issuing driving licenses to reduce traffic accidents. They report that nearly 10,000 driving licenses and vehicle registration documents have been distributed across these three provinces, generating more than 21 million Afghanis in revenue. However, citizens say that without improved oversight and education, these measures alone are insufficient.
