Modi Calls Reports of Attack on Putin’s Residence ‘Worrying,’ Urges Continued Diplomacy

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described reports of an attack targeting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence as worrying and stressed that continued diplomacy is the practical solution to end the conflict.

In a message on the social media platform X, Modi stated that New Delhi urges all parties to maintain focus on the diplomatic process and avoid actions that could undermine it. He emphasized the necessity of continued peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters on Monday that Ukraine launched an attack using 91 drones against the Russian president’s residence in the Novgorod region, calling it a “terrorist act.”

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, also declared that this act will not go unanswered and that Moscow would respond.

These remarks come as hopes for progress toward peace in Ukraine had increased following a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump.

At the same time, some Russian officials identified European countries, especially the United Kingdom, as main opponents of peace efforts and claimed that London was involved in the attack—claims not corroborated by independent sources.
