Zelensky Says Ukraine Ready for Peace After Meeting with Trump

Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, announced the positive outcome of talks following his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, emphasizing that Ukraine is ready to move towards peace.
In a message on the social media platform X, Zelensky thanked Trump and his team for their support of Ukraine, stating that both sides can follow the path to peace through cooperation. According to him, all aspects of the peace agreement were reviewed during the meeting, yielding significant results.
The Ukrainian president added that security guarantees have been agreed upon as a key element of sustainable peace, and that the teams from both countries will continue working on all dimensions of the agreement. It was also agreed that these teams would meet early next week to finalize the issues discussed.
According to Zelensky, Trump will host leaders from Ukraine and Europe in Washington in January to continue high-level talks. Zelensky once again emphasized that his country is ready for peace.
During a joint press conference with Trump last night, Zelensky stated that approximately 90 percent of the 20-point peace plan has been agreed upon, with full consensus reached on military and security guarantees.
Regarding the possibility of a referendum, he said that each part of the peace plan can be put to a public vote, and the final decision should come from the people, as the land belongs to the Ukrainian nation and future generations.
Responding to Trump’s remark that “Russia wants Ukraine to succeed,” Zelensky called the statement unexpected but suggested it may indicate a positive atmosphere for future negotiations and cooperation on Ukraine’s reconstruction and development.
