Former Afghan Vice President Alleges Taliban Intelligence Behind Assassination of General Sari

Mohammad Yunus Lawani, former Vice President of Afghanistan, claims that the assassination of Akramuddin Sari, a former general of the republican regime, and his companion was the result of an organized operation by the Taliban intelligence agency. He made these allegations yesterday at a memorial ceremony for General Sari, emphasizing that such operations are part of a policy to eliminate opponents.

According to Lawani, the Taliban intelligence activities are not limited to within Afghanistan; the agency also seeks to target critical and opposing figures abroad. He warned that this approach would escalate insecurity and distrust among Afghans living overseas.

Lawani also stated that a delegation has been appointed to discuss the assassination of the two former military officers with Iranian officials. Without providing further details, he explained that the purpose of these talks is to clarify the dimensions of the case and pursue the matter.

The assassination of Akramuddin Sari and Mohammad Amin Almas in Tehran has prompted widespread reactions from political leaders and opposition groups against the Taliban administration, highlighting renewed concerns over the safety of dissidents. So far, no individual or group has claimed responsibility, and the Taliban administration has not issued any official statement on the incident.
