International Efforts Continue to Combat Polio in Afghanistan

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that efforts to fight polio in Afghanistan are ongoing, with priority placed on ensuring access to vaccines for children.
According to the report, the IOM, in coordination with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, is delivering vital vaccines to remote and high-risk areas where access is challenging due to security issues, geographical obstacles, or limited health services.
These programs aim to protect thousands of children and women from polio, a disease that remains a significant health challenge in Afghanistan.
International organizations have repeatedly emphasized that successful polio eradication requires unhindered access for health teams to all parts of the country and sustained cooperation from the Taliban administration to facilitate the implementation of vaccination programs.
