Taliban’s Deputy Minister Urges Afghan Youth to Learn English and Follow International Media

Abdul Latif Nazari, Deputy Minister of Economy in the Taliban administration, encouraged young people to learn the English language and follow international media outlets, including CNN, during a social event in western Kabul.
In his remarks, he stated that in the ‘age of narrative battles,’ Afghanistan’s younger generation can convey, in his words, an ‘authentic and nationally beneficial narrative’ to global audiences by strengthening their language and communication skills.
These comments come as some Taliban officials emphasize the role of youth in connecting with the world, even as extensive restrictions on education within the country persist.
Critics argue that the closure of schools and universities to girls and the deprivation of women’s basic rights challenge claims of supporting Afghanistan’s active and effective participation on the global stage, highlighting a clear contradiction in the Taliban administration’s policies.
