Second International ‘Al-Ghaliboun’ Conference Held in Mashhad on Sixth Anniversary of General Soleimani’s Martyrdom

The second international “Al-Ghaliboun” conference was held on the evening of Saturday, December 26, in the city of Mashhad, coinciding with the approach of the sixth anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani’s martyrdom. The event focused on examining the perspectives and functions of the school of thought attributed to him in regional developments.

The conference was organized by the Cultural Foundation of Afghans Residing in Iran and featured the presence of several figures affiliated with the Resistance Axis, cultural and social elites, and a group of scholars from the Afghan immigrant community living in Iran. The organizers described the meeting as an effort to foster dialogue and exchange of views among intellectual and cultural activists of the Islamic world.

Speakers at the gathering highlighted General Qassem Soleimani’s role and emphasized issues such as the unity of the Islamic nation and vigilance against what they termed “external challenges and threats.” In their speeches, the Soleimani school of thought was introduced as an intellectual framework for convergence and resistance.

Hojjatoleslam wal-Muslimeen Vahidi, head of the Cultural-Social Foundation of Afghans Residing in Iran, described the martyr Soleimani as an influential figure among the peoples of the region and stated that his approach was based on creating bonds among various Islamic currents and sects.

According to Mr. Vahidi, support for different resistance groups was not limited to any specific religion or nationality, and this approach has reduced differences and strengthened cooperation among diverse currents. He cited the continuation of this viewpoint as one of the main pillars of the conference.

Elsewhere in the program, the Imam of Mashhad Friday Prayers referred to the broad scope of influence of the resistance discourse, stating that this ideology has transcended geographical borders and attracted attention in various settings, including academic and social circles outside the region.

Ayatollah Alamolhoda added that following General Soleimani’s martyrdom, this movement was not weakened; instead, it gained greater resonance at both regional and supra-regional levels.

At the conclusion of the conference, participants stated that the purpose of such meetings is to strengthen dialogue, enhance intellectual synergy, and keep the perspectives related to the resistance movement alive.
