Investigation Underway into Assassination of Former Afghan General in Tehran
Iranian media, quoting Hossein Khosh-Aqbal, the governor of Tehran, have reported that the country’s authorities are investigating the killing of General Ikramuddin Sarie, a former Afghan military officer.
According to these reports, General Sarie was attacked four days ago in Tehran alongside Mohammad Amin Almas, another former Afghan military figure. General Sarie died after being transferred to the hospital.
The funeral for the former military officer was held yesterday, Saturday, with the attendance of several Afghan residents living in Iran. Participants referred to him as one of the country’s former military figures without providing further details.
Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, many former military personnel have been forced to leave their homeland; a situation that has consistently raised concerns over their security, legal status, and access to necessary support in host countries.
