US to Focus on Venezuela Oil Embargo in the Next Two Months

According to a report by Reuters citing a US official, the White House has instructed the country’s military forces to concentrate primarily on enforcing an embargo on Venezuela’s oil exports over the next two months.
The US official stated that although military options against Venezuela remain on the table, Washington’s current policy is based on intensifying economic pressure in an effort to expand its influence over Caracas.
Relations between the United States and Venezuela have been strained in recent years, especially following the escalation of unilateral US sanctions against Nicolás Maduro’s government. These sanctions have primarily targeted Venezuela’s energy sector and maritime transport.
In response, Venezuelan officials consider these measures an economic blockade that violates international law principles and have repeatedly protested against ship seizures and Washington’s increasing pressure.
International affairs analysts believe that the United States aims to heighten political and economic pressure to weaken Nicolás Maduro’s government and compel Caracas to shift its domestic and foreign policies.
