Saudi Foreign Ministry Clarifies Military Movements in Eastern Yemen

The Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement clarifying the kingdom’s recent military movements in eastern Yemen, emphasizing that these actions were carried out without the approval of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and outside coordination with the coalition.
According to the statement, the movements took place in the Hadramawt and Al Mahrah governorates, areas that have witnessed renewed tensions and shifts in military control in recent weeks. Riyadh stated that efforts to restore the status quo in these two governorates are ongoing.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also expressed hope that the Southern Transitional Council would take the lead in de-escalating tensions and withdraw its affiliated forces from Hadramawt and Al Mahrah. The diplomatic body stressed the necessity of preventing further crisis escalation and maintaining stability in these regions.
In recent weeks, forces of the Southern Transitional Council, supported by the United Arab Emirates, have launched surprise attacks against Saudi-allied forces in Yemen, seizing control of strategic areas in Hadramawt and Al Mahrah. In response to these developments, Saudi forces have initiated new military movements to retake these areas.
