Over 28,000 Kilograms of Substandard Medicines Burned in Helmand Province

The Helmand Sub-Customs Department has announced that more than 28,000 kilograms of low-quality and expired medicines were collected and burned in the Registan area of Lashkargah city in Helmand province. According to officials, this action was carried out in the presence of local representatives.
Officials from this department stated that the mentioned medicines had been gathered over nearly two months from the provincial center and several districts of Helmand. The collection of these items was conducted by mobile teams from the Helmand Sub-Customs Department, in cooperation with security agencies under the Taliban administration.
Haji Mullah Mohammad Qasim Haqmal, head of Helmand Sub-Customs, said the purpose of destroying these medicines was to prevent health hazards. He emphasized that using substandard and expired medicines could pose a serious threat to the health of residents.
Meanwhile, health experts consistently stress that preventing the entry, distribution, and sale of such medicines requires continuous and transparent oversight of the pharmaceutical market. This issue remains a concern among residents due to structural limitations and weak regulatory supervision under the current Taliban administration.
