China Denounces US Defense Report and Warns Japan Against Provocative Actions

China’s Foreign Ministry has issued a sharp statement rejecting the latest US defense report, calling it a distortion of Beijing’s defense policy. The ministry declared its firm opposition to the report’s content, deeming it inaccurate.
In a continuation of the statement, China’s Ministry of Defense responded to Japan’s recent actions, warning that Beijing will take firm countermeasures against any “harassing and provocative” moves by Tokyo.
The report in question is the latest defense document prepared by the US Department of Defense at the request of Congress. It aims to assess what it describes as China’s military threats to the United States. The Pentagon recently released the report.
The report states that as China’s military becomes more advanced and resilient, Beijing is adopting a more cautious approach to reaching major agreements with Washington, while simultaneously increasing the vulnerability of US territory.
The Pentagon also claims that China, amid rising pressure on Taiwan, has been learning from Russia’s problems and failures in the war in Ukraine. Another section of the report indicates that China intends to build six more aircraft carriers by 2035.
