UNODC and JICA Host Three-Day Workshop on Drug Prevention in Afghanistan

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Afghanistan (UNODC Afghanistan), in collaboration with its Research and Training Section and with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), organized a three-day technical workshop for relevant national institutions.

This workshop, focused on “International Standards for Drug Prevention,” aimed to strengthen evidence-based responses, exchange successful experiences, and improve coordination among agencies involved in prevention efforts.

Organizers emphasized that enhancing the professional capacity of staff and utilizing scientific methods can play a crucial role in reducing the harms caused by drug use across various regions of Afghanistan. This issue, given the current structural limitations in public health, requires sustained attention and support from the international community.
