Israeli Sources Say Trump’s Gaza Plan Is Unworkable; Tel Aviv Sets Conditions for Turkey’s Role

Political sources in Israel have acknowledged that the proposal by U.S. President Donald Trump to deploy international forces in the Gaza Strip faces serious challenges and is currently unfeasible. According to these sources, the lack of willingness among key countries to send troops has put the future of this plan in doubt.
The Israeli newspaper Maariv reported, citing these sources, that despite Tel Aviv’s previous opposition to Turkey’s participation in international forces in Gaza, conditional acceptance of such involvement has been raised. This shift in stance, the sources say, depends on Ankara meeting certain specific demands.
According to the report, Israeli officials are demanding that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan publicly clarify his previous harsh remarks against Israeli leaders, including likening Benjamin Netanyahu to Hitler. Furthermore, Turkey is expected to demonstrate tangible changes in its policies towards Tel Aviv.
Meanwhile, relations between Turkey and Israel, particularly in economic and trade exchanges, have not been completely severed even during the Gaza conflict and have continued in some areas. Nonetheless, uncertainty over the fate of the international forces plan and existing political disputes continue to leave the prospects for this initiative’s implementation unclear.
