Pakistan Defense Minister Rejects Comparison of Border Operations to Indian Attacks on Religious Sites

Pakistan’s Defense Minister has dismissed comparisons between the country’s military operations along the Durand Line and India’s attacks on mosques and religious schools as “incorrect and unacceptable.” Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated on Tuesday in a press release that Pakistan’s operations are based on verified intelligence and specifically target Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) centers, a group he says operates from Afghan soil against Pakistan.

He emphasized that equating these military actions with what he described as illegal Indian attacks on religious sites in Bahawalpur and Mandi Bahauddin is an inaccurate comparison that ignores on-the-ground realities.

Meanwhile, the Taliban administration in Afghanistan has repeatedly denied these claims, asserting that insecurity in Pakistan is an internal matter and that Afghan territory is not being allowed to be used against others. Despite ongoing tensions, this stance continues to face skepticism and criticism at the regional level.
