Pakistan’s Balochistan Province Detains 179 Afghan Citizens in Security Operations

Security officials in Pakistan’s Balochistan province have announced the detention of 179 Afghan citizens during intelligence operations in the Nokundi and Taftan areas of Chagai district. According to the officials, these individuals had entered Pakistani territory through a rarely used route without legal documentation.
The operations were reportedly carried out to control illegal crossings along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Chagai district, located in southwestern Pakistan and bordering Afghanistan’s Nimroz province, is known as a common route for migrant movements.
Meanwhile, last week a traffic incident in the Nokundi area claimed the lives of 11 Afghan citizens and injured nine others. No further details about the cause of the incident have been released.
These events highlight once again the vulnerable situation of Afghan citizens on migration routes, where the lack of legal pathways forces many to use unsafe and risky routes.
