Prominent German Figures Urge Immediate Relocation of Afghans at Risk

More than 50 prominent political, cultural, and social figures in Germany have called on the federal government in an open letter to promptly implement the transfer of all Afghans who have previously been promised asylum. According to German media reports, the letter emphasizes that approximately 1,800 Afghan citizens, who had cooperated with German institutions, are currently residing in Pakistan and face the risk of forced return. The signatories warned that delays in relocating these individuals could seriously endanger their lives and security, urging the German government to urgently fulfill its prior commitments toward these Afghans. This appeal comes amid ongoing situations where many Afghan residents, following the Taliban’s seizure of power, have been compelled to leave the country due to their collaboration with foreign countries or international organizations and continue to live in uncertain and dangerous conditions in neighboring states.
