Afghan Asylum Seeker Sentenced to Nine Years in Scotland for Sexual Assault

A Scottish court has sentenced Rafiullah Ahmadzai, an Afghan asylum seeker, to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor girl, according to British media reports.

Sources state that the 21-year-old assaulted a 17-year-old girl last year in a park in Scotland. After reviewing the case, the judges found the charges proven and issued the prison sentence.

During the legal proceedings, Ahmadzai claimed that the encounter was consensual; however, the court rejected his claim.

In addition to the sexual assault conviction, he was also found guilty of threatening behavior, with the sentence covering both offenses. This case has once again drawn public attention in the UK to sexual crimes and the judicial handling of such cases.
