Taliban Intelligence Arrests Student Affairs Director at Kabul Medical University

Local sources confirm that Taliban intelligence forces arrested Shukrullah Hakimi, the General Director of Student Affairs at Kabul Medical University, on Monday, December 22. According to these sources, the arrest occurred while Hakimi was returning home after finishing his administrative duties.
Informed sources told Independent Persian that Hakimi was detained by Taliban intelligence personnel without any official warrant or a clear explanation. As of the publication of this report, the Taliban administration has not provided any explanation regarding the reason for the arrest of this university official.
Shukrullah Hakimi is originally from the Aabshar district in Panjshir province, a region that has faced constant security pressures and harsh measures since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan. Residents of Panjshir have repeatedly complained about widespread arrests and actions based on suspicion.
According to multiple reports, the Taliban have detained many Panjshir residents on various charges, including cooperation or association with anti-Taliban military fronts—allegations often made without clear evidence or documentation. This situation has raised serious concerns over violations of civil rights and the lack of transparency in the functioning of Taliban security institutions.
Reports also indicate that Taliban treatment of returning Panjshir residents from deportations out of Iran involves prolonged interrogations and harsh investigations. Nearly four and a half years since the Taliban’s return to power, military presence and security pressures in this province have not decreased; rather, local sources say these have intensified.
