Over 684,000 Tons of Goods Transported via Afghanistan’s Railways in One Month

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Works, under Taliban administration, announced that more than 684,000 tons of goods were transported through the country’s railway lines from four major ports over the past month. The ministry issued a statement on Tuesday declaring that these shipments took place in the most recent month of the Persian calendar year 1404.

According to the provided information, approximately 490,000 tons of goods were moved from Hairatan port, over 490,000 tons from Aqina port, 74,900 tons from Torghundi port, and 68,800 tons via the Khaf-Herat route, totaling the reported figure of 684,000 tons.

The Ministry of Public Works added that among these consignments, 1,581 tons were transit and export goods, the majority of which consisted of dried fruits, minerals, and pomegranate juice.

The ministry claims that increasing the volume of exports and imports through the railway can help create more job opportunities, boost national revenues, and advance economic stability, development, and self-sufficiency. However, amid Afghanistan’s extensive economic restrictions and infrastructural challenges, this claim necessitates transparency, practical planning, and equitable access for all residents to benefit.
