Ongoing Border Clashes Between Taliban and Pakistani Forces in Kunar

Residents of Kunar province report scattered clashes between Taliban administration forces and Pakistani military along the Durand Line over the past thirty days. These tensions have been most intense in the Dangam and Shultan districts. Local sources add that Pakistani forces have launched nearly 90 rockets toward various areas of Kunar in just the last three days. In response to these attacks, Taliban forces have targeted some Pakistani military posts. Residents claim that the rocket attacks have primarily targeted shops, residential homes, and other public spaces. They say the ongoing situation has forced many families to leave their homes and relocate to safer areas for their own protection. Despite growing public concern over the consequences of these clashes, no clear explanation has yet been provided on how civilians will be protected or how residential areas will be safeguarded. This raises serious questions about the parties’ responsibility toward the safety of the civilian population.
