WFP Warns of Worsening Malnutrition Crisis in Afghanistan

The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that as malnutrition worsens across Afghanistan, a growing number of mothers and children are visiting health clinics daily to receive medical services.
The agency states that during the current calendar year, it has been able to deliver nutritious food to thousands across various provinces and regions of the country; aid that WFP says has played a vital role in preventing severe consequences of malnutrition, especially for children and pregnant women.
Expressing gratitude to its donors, the World Food Programme emphasized that continued support is crucial to maintaining vulnerable families’ access to healthy nutrition, warning that without this aid, the health conditions of disadvantaged groups could deteriorate further.
At the same time, humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned that the economic crisis, restrictions, and challenges under Taliban rule have made consistent access to health and food services difficult for the population, increasing the need for more effective and unhindered responses.
