Water Network Supported by Norway Begins Operation in Zabul, Serving 300 Families

According to media affiliated with the Taliban administration, a water supply network supported by the Norwegian Refugee Council has been put into operation in Zabul province, providing drinking water to approximately 300 families.

Bakhtar News Agency reported on Sunday, December 20, that this network was completed and officially activated in the village of Sykhak Qalat, near the center of Zabul province. The source stated that the cost of implementing this project was nearly four million Afghanis.

The report also mentioned that similar water supply projects are underway in other provinces. Specifically, another network was inaugurated yesterday in Nangarhar province, which also provides safe water to around 300 families.

However, the continued widespread need among the population for clean drinking water indicates that reliance on foreign aid organizations remains vital. The absence of sustainable and responsive programs by the Taliban administration has kept the challenge of equitable access to basic services persistent in many parts of the country.
