Taliban Health Minister Seeks Global Support in Fight Against Diseases

Noorjalal Jalali, the Taliban’s Minister of Public Health, announced during his visit to India that his main focus is combating diseases, and he is ready to receive assistance and cooperation from any country to eradicate them.
Speaking to reporters, Jalali said the purpose of his trip was to initiate a new chapter in bilateral cooperation in the health sector between Afghanistan and India. He added that strengthening these ties could improve public access to medical services and facilities.
Jalali also noted that a significant portion of Afghanistan’s medicine supply used to come from Pakistan. However, due to strained relations with Islamabad, the Taliban administration is now seeking alternative sources.
According to him, India could be one of those alternatives—an important consideration given the widespread international restrictions and pressure on Afghanistan’s healthcare system, highlighting the need for stable access to medicine and regional cooperation.
