Tajik Ambassador Meets Afghan Chamber Head to Discuss Trade and Investment

The Ambassador of Tajikistan in Kabul met with the head of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Investment to discuss strengthening bilateral trade relations, expanding commercial cooperation, and creating joint investment opportunities.
According to Jan Agha Nawid, spokesperson for the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, trade relations between Afghanistan and Tajikistan are currently stable, with no major issues. He added that the main objective of the meeting was to further develop these ties and facilitate transit and imports of goods through Tajikistan to countries connected to its regional networks.
Economic experts consider the enhancement of trade relations and investment opportunities between Kabul and Dushanbe to be highly important, emphasizing that strengthening such cooperation could positively impact multilateral engagement between the two nations. They believe that economic collaboration can pave the way for broader regional integration.
Firdaws Behgozin, an economic analyst, stated that such ties have significant economic value, and connecting the two countries could open doors for financial, cultural, and even political exchanges. Another economic analyst, Abdul Nasir Rashtiyeh, described Tajikistan as a key neighbor of Afghanistan and noted that expanding relations with the country could improve Afghanistan’s access to regional markets.
The meeting comes after a Tajik delegation previously traveled to Kabul to hold discussions with Taliban officials on bilateral matters, particularly economic cooperation. These talks, however, continue to raise questions about sustainability and long-term benefits for Afghan traders due to the absence of a clear and inclusive economic framework.
