Roof Collapse in Kandahar Kills Woman and Two Children

Local officials under Taliban administration report that the collapse of a residential roof in Khakrez district of Kandahar province has claimed the lives of a woman and two children.

Abdul Salam Omari, head of the Taliban’s Disaster Preparedness and Response Authority, said on Saturday, December 29, that the incident occurred in the Domandoy Borma area and was caused by rainfall.

According to Omari, the roof collapsed after heavy rain, and the residents were unable to escape in time.

The incident highlights ongoing risks to residents in many parts of the country, where a lack of oversight in construction and the expansion of substandard housing—particularly during the rainy season—pose serious threats. This issue calls for greater attention and preventive measures by the Taliban administration.
