Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan Discuss Energy Cooperation Under Taliban Administration

The Taliban-led Ministry of Water and Energy in Afghanistan has announced that a delegation headed by the ministry’s deputy for energy affairs met with the Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan to discuss bilateral energy cooperation.

According to the ministry, the meeting focused on expanding joint efforts in the energy sector. Afghanistan was highlighted as a key hub for regional energy projects, with investment opportunities in electricity infrastructure also outlined.

During the talks, both sides shared updates on the progress of the CASA-1000 electricity transmission project.

In a joint statement, the two parties agreed to collaborate on modernizing electricity grids, increasing energy production capacity, reducing power losses, and strengthening technical cooperation. These initiatives are part of broader regional efforts to improve energy access and interconnectivity across Central and South Asia.
