Taliban Launches Operation in Badakhshan Against Suspects in Attack on Chinese Nationals

Security sources have reported that Taliban security forces in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province carried out an operation targeting the hideout of individuals suspected of involvement in the recent attack on Chinese nationals in Tajikistan.

According to these sources, the suspects were operating from border areas in Badakhshan and the attacks were launched from across the border. As a result of the operation, one wanted individual was captured alive along with weapons and military equipment.

Sources added that, based on the initial confession of the detained individual, the planning for the attacks took place outside of Afghanistan. However, further details regarding the potential network, the precise location of the planning, and how the suspects crossed the border remain unclear.

This incident comes amid ongoing concerns about the security situation in border regions and a lack of transparency in Taliban-led security operations. Critics continue to call on the Taliban administration to respond more clearly and to provide greater media access to information.
