Taliban and Kyrgyz Officials Discuss Trade and Digital Financial Cooperation

Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy of the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan, met with a high-level delegation from Kyrgyzstan headed by Bakyt Sydykov, the country’s minister of economy and trade, to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation.

The discussions primarily focused on boosting trade between the two nations and strengthening collaboration in digital financial services. Hanafi expressed Afghanistan’s readiness to deepen ties with Kyrgyzstan and underlined the importance of developing electronic governance systems and modern banking channels to facilitate trade and financial transactions.

According to sources familiar with the meeting, Hanafi described these initiatives as a means of improving administrative and financial processes between Kabul and Bishkek. However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by the lack of transparent and internationally recognized structures within Afghanistan.

In response, Sydykov reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s continued humanitarian support to Afghanistan and expressed interest in joint cooperation on e-governance projects. He also highlighted potential areas for collaboration, such as the printing of security documents and the development of electronic payment systems.
