Pakistani PM Praises Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Resistance Against Terrorism

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the resilience and sacrifices of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism. Speaking at a formal event at Haripur University, Sharif lauded the province’s role in bringing peace to Pakistan and highlighted the courage of its residents.

Describing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a province of brave people, he said its residents have battled terrorism for years and sacrificed many lives in the process. According to him, these sacrifices have contributed to the relative stability in the country and will be remembered in the annals of history.

These remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s Taliban government. Sharif has repeatedly accused the Taliban of supporting Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has claimed responsibility for several deadly attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year.

The Taliban, however, deny any support for the TTP and describe Pakistan’s security issues as the country’s internal matter. Additionally, following previous allegations by Pakistani forces of conducting air and rocket strikes against TTP positions within Afghan territory, the Taliban have claimed that these strikes have targeted civilians, including women and children. These developments reflect ongoing tensions and a lack of transparency in bilateral security cooperation between the two sides.
