IOM Commends Afghan Returnees on International Migrants Day

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has acknowledged the resilience and contributions of Afghan returnees and displaced communities in a statement marking International Migrants Day. The organization described their journeys as narratives of perseverance, culture, and hope.

According to the IOM, Afghan returnees are striving to rebuild their personal and family lives within the country, bringing with them skills and experiences acquired during years of migration.

The agency emphasized that the renewed presence of these individuals can help strengthen local communities and reinforce social bonds across various regions of Afghanistan.

International Migrants Day serves as an annual opportunity to raise awareness about the conditions of migrants, returnees, and internally displaced persons—groups in Afghanistan that continue to face significant economic, social, and structural challenges and remain in urgent need of sustained international support.
